Get Involved
We're glad you want to explore ways to get involved with Joni and Friends. Virtually all our programs are fueled by volunteer support as believers, just like you, join us in proclaiming and portraying what the Good News of Jesus Christ should look like among people with disabilities and their families. We love partnering with our volunteers; II Corinthians 9:12 says, "This service that you perform is overflowing in many expressions of thanks to God." We thank God for you! So how can you get started? Consider the following...
- "Joni and Friends" radio program: Share with Joni how God has blessed you, perhaps through your own disability, or one in your family or church. It is stories like yours that Joni loves sharing every day on the "Joni and Friends" radio program. Just post your comments under "Contact Us."
- Prayer Team: Join our prayer team here at the ministry. Through our programs we meet many practical needs of disabled people; but people's hearts will only be opened to the Gospel if friends like you pray. Just call our ministry office or post your request on "Contact Us" that you'd like to join the Joni and Friends prayer team!
- Wheels for the World: Consider joining one of our many Wheels for the World teams to distribute wheelchairs and Bibles to needy disabled people in less-developed nations. You could serve as an administrator, translator, seating mechanic, physical therapist; you name it! It's all about opening hearts to the Gospel of Jesus through each wheelchair fitted to a disabled person. Or you can volunteer here at home by simply collecting used but serviceable wheelchairs in your community!
- Family Retreats: Every year our Joni and Friends' Area Ministry teams across the country hold retreats and weekend getaways for families affected by disability. Come and serve as a short-term missionary, providing helping hands to a family with a disabled child or an adult. It's a great way to practice 'Christianity with its sleeves rolled up!'
- Area Ministries: In every region across America there are scores of opportunities for you to volunteer through our US Field Services, whether volunteering in an Area Ministry office of Joni and Friends, or at a Joni and Friends chapter, satellite, or extension office. Collecting wheelchairs... Pampering Days for Moms... Walk 'n Roll... church training... helping organize a Family Retreat... visiting disabled people in care facilities... prayer... and, yes, even stuffing envelopes!
- Donate: The ministry of Joni and Friends is supported largely through the private financial contributions from friends like you. It takes a lot of resources to run a national and global outreach like ours, so we invite you to participate with us through your gifts. Either a one-time donation, or a monthly pledge; whichever, you can be certain your gift will be used exclusively to advance the kingdom of Christ among people with disabilities.
